We are seeking a self-organised and collaborative Technical Author / Writer with a broad range of coordination and technical writing skills to author, and edit, a range of technical documentation in collaboration with our discipline experts. You will ensure that documents are of sufficient standards in line with quality assurance, in the correct format and with the right information to enable those operating within the company to successfully follow the procedures and to demonstrate capability and processes/procedure maturity to clients. You will join a dynamic team at Delkia reporting directly to the Engineering manager

Successful candidate will be meticulous, methodical and analytical. The Technical Author will understand the importance of confidentiality ensuring company and client information security is upheld. The Technical Author will be technically competent in delivering the role.

Overview of the role

  • Acquiring and using technical insight into current document set to add value to documentation

  • Managing and improving the document review and approval processes.

  • Striving for continual improvement to documentation process by suggesting and implementing improvements to the existing system

  • Developing, administering and implementing processes for more efficient task management within the section

  • Providing support and expertise to the development of documents in support of tendering documentation, technical manuals, and internal standards/policies.

  • Manipulating technical data using Microsoft Excel

  • Writing promotional documentation, brochures, technical material to promote the business

  • Meticulous attention to detail is critical to the successful delivery of this role, other attributes the of the ideal candidate are:

  • An understanding of systems integration and/or systems engineering would be advantageous

  • Confidence in their areas of expertise

  • The ability to be dynamic and be part of small but rapidly growing business

  • Self-starting and proactive to contribute to a highly effective team

  • Be able to think holistically and support others within the business

Desired Qualifications / Prerequisites

  • Previous demonstrable experience in a technical author / writer role

  • Worked in a quality driven environment utilising a technical control system, for example a regulated industry

  • Ability to work in a team

  • HNC/HND, City and Guilds, or equivalent, in an IT or business discipline.

  • MS Excel, Word & Adobe PDF– intermediate to advanced user (Styles, Cross reference, Caption)

  • Demonstrable technical document writing experience

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and strong interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of structured writing practices

  • Ability to prioritise work and work under pressure.

  • Experience in the nuclear / defence sector would be advantageous
