The project has been awarded by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) in partnership with Magnox Ltd, Sellafield Ltd and Innovate UK following a ‘Sort and Seg’ innovation competition, worth £3.9million in total. The project was launched in July 2020 and aims to sort and segregate mixed radioactive wastes at the UK’s oldest UK nuclear sites.
This stage of the project will see the Delkia led consortium come up with feasibility studies for the previously submitted proposal, including robotics, advanced sensors and artificial intelligence.
Mark Sisson, System Integration Manager at Delkia commented:
“As Project Lead I am delighted that we have been awarded this opportunity by Innovate UK. We are excited to collaborate with the consortia team and work together to develop a solution to a very interesting problem in support of nuclear decommissioning activities.”
“This project demonstrates Delkia’s specialist expertise and commitment to innovation, research and development both in the nuclear sector and further afield.
At Delkia we bring together the latest technological advances to provide our clients cutting-edge engineered solutions as a leading Systems Integrator in the nuclear and defence sectors.
A fantastic contract for our team which adds to a strong start in 2021 for Delkia.”
